Loose Ends #7

This is the first attempt at the fueling station for the Space Port.  Still needs some work.  I did this at the last minute before Brick Days, using only the parts I had on hand.  Thus there is room for improvement.

Here is another perspective while fueling the cargo transport.

What follows are some random ideas that came up while building with the grand kids.

I am not sure what these creations will lead to.  But one of the overall treatments needs to the so called greebling, and that is probably where this is eventually heading

Brick Days 2025 - Omaha

Brick Days was another great time.  We thoroughly enjoyed it.  Here is a picture montage of the four days.

I thought this was quite interesting.  Using a net to capture the pieces and then make a quilt like structure.

This was the overall winner of the show.

This matrix vehicle was quite good.

Someone else who did a remake of the galaxy explorer.  You can see the original just in front of it. This similar to the idea that I had, except mine needed to fit on a landing pad base plate.

I am still attracted to this idea of micro architecture.  Just have not found a way to include it in the display.

Ship in a bottle?

This is taking the mosaic to whole new level.  The 3-D style is very good.  This particular one is a excellent combination of the mosaic and the new botanical line of Lego.

OK these two pictures might be pushing it a little.  But I had to laugh.

Me giving a presentation on Lighting Your Lego.

I thought this display should have won the Lights contest.  Very innovative display of both Duplo and Lego bricks that will fluoresce.

This how we started out from Western Nevada on April Fools Day.  The week before it had been in the 70's. We finally caught up with the storm in Wyoming, where we had to take 2 hour detour because Interstate 80 west of Laramie was closed.  But we were able to see Casper WY, Chimney Rock and Scott's Bluff.

Brick Fest Live - Pleasanton

This show was fairly low key.  We were one of two people that were displaying.  So we were a big attraction.

This table is always popular and the kids will spend 20 minutes trying to out do the creations on the table.

The brick pit is always popular.

Every Brick Fest has large floor mural that is a collaboration of the attendees.  Get a plate, a box of tiles and plan.  Once the attendees finish their base plate, it is added to the floor mosaic.  After having been at several of these you can tell how many people have pre-purchased by the size allocated for the floor mosaic.

And here are two videos that people did from this event.

More Bulk Bricks

Part of the last few weeks has been stopping at various used brick locations and rummaging through their collections.  But because of the work on the display for Brick Days, I never got to sorting and storing this collection.  I would occasionally pick parts out that I needed, but that was the extent to which I attacked this problem.  The picture above is only part of the total amount I collected, since I also got several bags at Brick Days as these photos show me rummaging through the brick piles.

Here I have reduced the pile to different containers.  A large portion of the bulk bricks was Technic bricks, which I have already put away.

We are basically down to the end here.  Lots of single pieces that I have to remember where they go.  Dont want multiple pieces of the same piece in multiple locations.

At Brick Days I answered this basic question multiple times and I have said it before, but it bears repeating.  Of my Lego time, I spend at least 20% of it sorting and storing bricks.  This is either from bulk purchases and from the occasional cleanup I do while building.  My basic philosophy is this, if I have the brick and can't find it, then I really don't have the brick.
